Use combo to plug hole

boat.jpeg

Sitting down on the far side of the boat, you quickly cut off more of the sheet, but you also take out one of the plastic water bottles you had stored. Draining it in a couple big gulps, you cut it in half and stuff it into the hole. It’s bigger than the hole and crinkles up, but you make sure there is no gapping. Then,  you load the scraps of the sheet into it, filling it out even more and really making a good seal.

You set off. Standing behind the boat and start to push it into the water, being very careful to avoid the goo on the sand. With a last push and a running start, you hop into the boat as it makes it onto the water. You make it out from underneath the dock, largely without incident, avoiding the pockets of sludge with relative ease.

As you make it out onto the open water, you face a considerably more challenging journey. The sea is relatively calm, but the pockets of black goo keep rising wispy little tentacles into the air in a weak effort to catch something. After a particularly close call, in which you had to duck to avoid the swinging tentacle from nailing you in the face, your familiar says, you are doomed. It was nice knowing you. Maybe my next human will have some brains. Or maybe some lovers. I’ve heard great things about lovers.

What will you do?
