Enter Forest

“Melric?” you say, fighting through the fog that seems to have penetrated your brain.

Something...wrong, you hear, and you fight harder, stopping where you are and pressing the palms of your hands to your eyes as you push through the cobwebs.

“What is going on?” you whisper. Memories of your father of all things are starting to flash through your mind. Still images of your father teaching you how to slink down the alleys, teaching you to open your pocket knife. The last time you’d seen him was years ago. Why were you thinking about him now?

Focus, you imbecile. This is a trick!

You jerk and open your eyes, shoving the cobwebs away forcefully. You don’t want to remember your father. He left. Your familiar didn’t, not that he could’ve.

“Fine, you old bat,” you say. The cobwebs already begin to creep back in. “Then, help me!”
You are standing in a small clearing. You don’t totally remember reaching it, but your focus now is on the man standing in front of you. You can only blink in surprise. He looks a bit like your father did, before he left you and your mother, and your heart pangs at the sight of him. “I’m here, child,” the man says, and he truly sounds just like your father did in the few memories you still have of him. “I was waiting for you.” He opens his arms for a hug.
What do you do?
