The bridge gambit

You leave the last building of your settlement block behind you and wander deserted corridor after deserted corridor of old city. Beggars and outcasts slink away as you saunter past. The buildings in this corner of the maze look even worse than yours. They are covered in refuse and graffiti, obviously uninhabited

 

Suddenly, a scream from above pierces the silence.
